Goyan
Goyan's work is largely inspired by his love of the sea, although he does sometimes also paint inland. Hisvibrant, highly textured oils present a bold anddistinctive interpretation of the Spanish coast, and hisovertones of imagination make the finished workintensely expressive. He has a spontaneous, evenforceful style, which combines with his breadth of visionto give powerful portrayals of each scene.Goyan was born in Valencia in 1959 and studied at theSan Carlos School. A self-taught painter, he spent hisearly life perfecting his technique in oil painting; he was,and still is, a frequent visitor to many of Spain's greatgalleries, where he observes the work and absorbs theinfluences of other artists that he admires.Goyan's work can be found in both individual andcollective exhibitions in many of Spain's major citiesincluding Madrid, Seville, Granada and his home,Valencia. His introduction to the UK has been greetedwith enthusiasm on the art market.
